Revised Childhood Memory

Using AI and photoshop to visualize concepts

This concept is rooted in a personal question that’s stayed with me. My mom didn’t have the easiest childhood, and it made me wonder—what if she had a keepsake or a small moment that gave her a glimpse of the childhood she didn’t get to fully experience? I’ve noticed how she collects dolls and stuffed toys even now—things she didn’t have much of growing up. It made me think: maybe others, too, carry quiet longings like that. What if there were ways to honor those unspoken wishes—not to fix the past, but simply to imagine how it could’ve felt?

Using AI technology, visual filters, and an immersive exhibit or mini-museum setup, this concept invites people to step into an imagined version of their childhood—one shaped by wonder and possibility. What if you could see a reflection of your younger self, not just as you were, but surrounded by the things you once dreamed of having? Picture a mirror that reveals your inner child in a carefully crafted scene. In my mom’s case, it’s her younger self finally surrounded by dolls and toys she once wished for. It’s a way to capture a moment that never existed—but maybe should have—and to keep a snapshot of that imagined memory.

The exhibit will feature an interactive booth where visitors can reimagine their childhood selves through AI technology. Like crafting a prompt, users can input memories, emotions, or scenes they once longed for—whether it’s being surrounded by toys, feeling carefree, glimpsing the dreams they had for their future, or simply experiencing pure joy. The booth then generates a visual representation of their younger self in that imagined moment. Participants can take home a photo or video as a keepsake—a tangible glimpse into a what-if version of the past.

The exhibit will also include a storytelling section that features visitors and the childhood moments they’ve reimagined. Through dynamic digital frames, their stories will come to life—shifting between present-day portraits and AI-generated images of their younger selves. These e-frames offer a striking visual contrast, honoring both who they are now and who they once dreamed of being.

To expand the experience, a short film will be created to document the concept and spotlight selected stories. Blending personal reflections with the visual reimagining, the film invites viewers to consider their own childhoods—and what if moments they might still carry.

A dedicated landing page or website will also accompany the exhibit, allowing people to explore the concept, view galleries and stories, or even try a virtual version of the experience.
